Fijnbosch Series
Ancient societies celebrated the strong, muscular and youthful male form for its beauty. We see these ideals immortalized and glorified in their sculptures. Our culture is shifting towards inclusivity and equality and the widespread reverence for this traditional male form seems to be fading. Except in certain niche communities where this aesthetic is still appreciated and celebrated.
Our changing values influence what we consider beautiful. Like Nietzsche said: "If you crush a cockroach, you're a hero. If you crush a beautiful butterfly, you're a villain. Morals have aesthetic criteria."

Sketches
Life drawing is the foundation of my artistic expression. For three years I have hosted weekly sessions where artists gather around a life model to engage in the ancient act of seeing.
These quick, expressive studies represent encounters. They strip away the performance of the finished piece and return me to the raw, unmediated truth of the human form.
It’s the intimacy of these sessions that remind me why I create: to look, to witness and to make visible the beauty of the human form.
